| Description |
EVS, the Original Protective Gear Company, was founded in 1985. Since then, we’ve continued to make the most technologically advanced safety gear in the action sports industry.
Every year, action sport athletes are pushed to higher levels than ever before and the safety equipment used to protect these athletes allows them to go faster and jump farther. With the increased speed and danger, EVS is constantly evolving to produce the safest and most innovative products.
As the EVS story goes, a motocross rider injured his knee one too many times and decided that the everyday pain he was going through was just too much. Out of this, the idea of making a product that will protect an athlete’s knees (along with the rest of their body) while riding was born. This was the birth of EVS and the future of innovation and advanced technology.
EVS’ first product, the AMX-5 knee brace, has been worn by some of the world’s most prestigious athletes and was the building block for EVS’ most comprehensive protective gear line ever. EVS is fully dedicated to providing superior protection for athletes of all sorts in the action sports world. In addition, we’re constantly developing and expanding the line to help protect you at all levels of participation. From beginner to pro, we’ve got you covered!
Over the last two decades, EVS has focused on growing the product line and adding newly enhanced protective gear to the catalog. For 2011, you’ll see an all-new lineup including the RS8 Pro knee brace and the F2, a full functioning modular chest protector. From head to toe, EVS is there to keep you safe every step of the way.
With the same dedication athletes put into their sport and the endless amounts of blood, sweat and tears, EVS works just as hard putting the spotlight on safety and you. |

Buchanan, Michigan’s RedBud is the centerpiece of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. Located just above the Michigan-Indiana state line, RedBud is among the most highly regarded motocross tracks in the world, and July Fourth weekend there is one of the region’s biggest events in general. Located in the beautiful rolling hills of southwestern Michigan – a state with an affinity for off-road recreational vehicle use – RedBud has bragging rights to claim the largest attendance of any U.S. motocross race, year after year. With just the right soil mix, plenty of room for passing, and the biggest jump on the circuit - the infamous LaRocco’s Leap, named after local legend Mike LaRocco - RedBud is the top motocross destination in a region that loves its motorsports. And the loyal Michigan fans’ chants of “Red Buuuuud!!!” are well-known throughout the motocross world.
One winter nearly forty years ago, Valparaiso, Indiana’s Gene Ritchie took a trip to Buchanan for a snowmobile race. He rode around the property, imagining that a great motocross track could be carved into the hills and fields. When that property came up for sale in 1972, Ritchie pursued his dream of creating a national-caliber motocross track. He and his wife, Nancy, found some willing partners and purchased the property. The Ritchies, the Pattersons, and the Millers built their dream track and began holding races in 1973.
RedBud held its first AMA Motocross National in 1974, and it was won by another local motocross star, Hadley, Michigan’s Mike Hartwig. The facility also hosted Trans-AMA races each fall, often featuring battles between the world’s best rider at the time, Roger DeCoster, and America’s best, Bob “Hurricane” Hannah.
Within a few years, the original partners moved on and the Ritchie family relocated to Michigan to become full-time motocross promoters. Gene opened a bike shop, Red Bud Cycle, selling Bultacos and Maicos near the track entrance. The shop mechanic, a local teenage MX racer, became the centerpiece of the Friday night MX intermission shows; that teen was the late “Wheelie King”, Doug Domokos, who went on to set world records and wow fans around the globe with his wheelie shows and spectacular stunts.
Other stars emerged from the RedBud amateur races, too, most notably the Bomber, Mark Barnett from nearby Bridgeview, Illinois, Michigan’s five-time Women’s National Champ Lisa (Akin) Wagner (now on staff at RedBud!), six-time AMA MX and SX Champ Jeff Stanton and of course, “the Rock”, Mike LaRocco.
Also, since 2005, RedBud has played host to the second round of the Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross, a series-within-the-series where a rider can earn a $50,000 bonus if he sweeps all three rounds. Over the years, only Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart have managed to pull it off. For 2009, the Monster Energy Triple Crown of Motocross returns again to RedBud (as well as High Point and Budds Creek) and will be shown live on NBC.
RedBud is also one of four rounds on the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships schedule which will host the FMF Two-Stroke Invitational, which will bring back the sights and sounds (and pre-mix smell) of two-stroke motocross bikes. Check it all out on July Fourth weekend, 2009, at RedBud!

Most of the times with these big companies, they are kids out in the field trying to come up with valve settings that dont work in the real world... MB1 Has more Professional 250cc 2 stroke & 450cc 4 Stroke AMA SX and MX Championships than any other suspension company in the Industry! We know how to Win Championships!

The Crusty Demons are a group of daredevil motorcyclists from the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
This all started in 1994 when filmmakers Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson had been accumulating footage to showcase a behind the scenes expose of the lifestyle of an American pro motocross rider in action, 145ft plus jumps, 45ft high in the air soaring over sand dunes, mountains, houses, buses and anything else secure and steep enough to hold the weight of bike and rider.
The end result was Fleshwound Films and the first video Crusty Demons of Dirt . The launch of this video was to change the face of motocross and create a sport that has become the most popular of all extreme sports today, Freestyle Motocross (FMX) .
Fleshwound Films spent two years gathering footage for the first motocross film and 1994 saw the release of Crusty Demons of Dirt . The excitement and hysteria the film created was phenomenal and its success brought about a lot of poachers. Although others were out there trying to create motocross videos, none managed to achieve quite the same impact that Crusty had. Following the success of the first film, Crusty 2 was premiered 18 months later. Sales exceeded expectations and tripled from the first video as the Crusty phenomenon began spreading worldwide. What was somewhat a stagnant sport had received a positive injection of interest and proved its worthiness of being showcased Internationally. People began buying the clothing worn by their heroes (Fleshgear) and thousands around the world were getting bikes and heading for the racetrack, mountains, sand dunes and the sky.
It was only to grow bigger. With the release of Crusty 3 in 1997 and the videos and sport still booming with popularity, freestyle motocross pioneers Lofty and Brian Jordan went to Fleshwound Films with the idea of staging a freestyle motocross competition. Four months later the first competition was held in Las Vegas. This new side of the sport was looked down upon by the industry and many people said it would go nowhere - the excitement amongst the fans indicated that they strongly disagreed.
Before long FMX was introduced as a new sport in the 99 X games in San Francisco and was given worldwide exposure through ESPN television. FMX was then stamped as the king of Extreme, becoming the number one sport at the X Games.
Competition requires riders to travel a course for 90 seconds performing as many tricks as possible, which are judged by a panel. Usually about 10 jumps are completed in this time bracket and riders compete for prize money.
Fleshwound Films undoubtedly played a crucial part in the evolution of the sport, they are still shooting Crusty Films today and recently released the 10th instalment titled – Crusty X – A Decade of Dirt. They have successfully implemented their vision into the industry, introducing the world to their friends and lifestyles whilst creating gods in the stars of their video series. A highlight for them has been coming up with such a unique idea; planning to make it happen and seeing it grow beyond their vision internationally. Travelling to film in Australia, Japan, Brazil, Africa and Peru to name a few, has meant Fleshwound Films created 'The National Geographic of motocross'.
