Established in 1975 and headquartered in Southern California, Oakley is one of the leading sports brands in the world. The holder of over 600 patents, Oakley is continually seeking problems, solving them with inventions and wrapping those inventions in art. This philosophy has made Oakley one of the most iconic and inimitable brands on the market. Oakley is famed for its insuperable lens technologies such as High Definition Optics® (HDO®) which it incorporates into all of its sun and prescription eyewear as well as goggles. Oakley has extended its leadership position as the world’s leading sports eyewear brand into their apparel, footwear and accessories collections. Laser focused on the consumer, Oakley has both Men’s and Women’s product lines which target the Sports Performance, Active and Lifestyle consumers. Oakley is a subsidiary of Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX; MTA: LUX). Additional information is available at www.oakley.com

Products:

Oakley invents each new product with a design philosophy called sculptural physics: the discipline of solving problems with science and wrapping those solutions in art. Supported by an infrastructure that includes the latest tools of technology, Oakley engineers and artisans continue to expand the company’s array of product categories.

Sunglasses
As the undisputed leader in performance eyewear, Oakley continues to advance sport technology and redefine the lifestyle market with patented optical innovations. Numerous patents have been awarded to the inventions behind the company’s High Definition Optics® (HDO®). HDO® virtually eliminates the problems of ordinary lenses, including distortion that bends light (so objects aren’t really where they appear to be) and optical flaws that magnify images in the manner of prescription lenses made for somebody else.

Eyewear is our passion. Some may say we’re obsessed and that’s okay. Since 1978, Oakley has led the way in maximizing lens style and technical performance. Right now, it’s only getting better for you. Oakley polarized lenses are engineered with a liquid infusion process that bonds the polarizing filter at the molecular level, eliminating the haze and distortion found in conventional technologies. Below are seven exclusive Oakley technologies that put our polarized lenses at the top of the game. We make the difference, and you reap the benefits when you strap a pair of Oakleys on your head.

Prescription Eyewear
Oakley offers a comprehensive line of ophthalmic-specific frames and corrective sun lenses that are recognized as some of the best prescription optics available. Full service labs in the U.S., Europe and Asia bring the world's best optics technologies to local markets. The company’s prescription lenses are offered in a full spectrum of colors, polarization options and performance coatings. Technologies include metal frames with shape memory; Color Inherence for lenses that never fade; OAKLEY ACTIVATED BY TRANSITIONS™ lenses that darken and lighten automatically; the world’s first true interchangeable prescription lens; and the Oakley Rx system that maps light rays in a 3D grid to achieve precise coordination between the eye and the entire lens surface.

Goggles
Sports categories that rely on Oakley goggle technology include motocross, snowboarding, skiing, BMX and mountain biking. Launched in 2006, OAKLEY STOCKHOLM™ was created specifically to offer women the ultimate in goggle performance technology. The company’s 3D cranial geometry ensures a precise fit, and innovations such as ram-air surge ports provide fog-cutting airflow that is augmented with F3 anti-fog coating. Optically correct Oakley goggle lenses are engineered to maximize peripheral and downward vision while optimizing impact protection. In addition, a legacy of decades in motocross has resulted in the most optically advanced tear-off system in the industry.

Electronics
Oakley recognized that the future of fashion includes technology. The revelation that an audio system should be close to the ears, not tethered from the hip, led to the invention of Oakley THUMP – the world’s first digital music eyewear. The design eliminated wires by seamlessly integrating a music player and earphones with a performance sunglass frame. Two more eyewear inventions, RAZRWIRE™ and O ROKR™ let users enjoy stereo music and wireless cell phone connectivity via next-generation Bluetooth® technology. Featuring the unsurpassed clarity of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS®, these products let the wearer stay connected to calls and music while hiking, biking and doing virtually any activity where cords and wires would get in the way.

Apparel
Engineered to optimize performance and comfort for professional athletes, Oakley apparel designs are coveted also by the lifestyle market. The company utilizes membrane technologies that maintain waterproof yet breathable barriers. Temperature is controlled with reversible heat storage, a science developed for astronauts. Rejecting the flat cutouts of conventional garment design, Oakley uses CAD/CAM digital sculpturing to achieve the comfort and fit of contours that accent the female form. Additional technologies range from the temperature control of inflatable insulation systems to the impact protection of Bio Foam panels.

Footwear
In addition to a full line of sandals and premium golf shoes, Oakley offers footwear for snow, hiking, motor sport racing and military applications. The company’s NET SHAPE™ TECHNOLOGY utilizes CAD/CAM engineering to integrate all shoe components for superior durability, fit and comfort throughout the full range of motion. Additionally, Oakley invented RED CODE™, a mid-sole system that calibrates performance for each sport by absorbing ground forces at progressive rates to optimize stability, dynamic shock attenuation and energy return.

Accessories
Oakley offers a full line of accessories designed for efficiency, comfort, convenience and style. The company’s backpacks and bags are engineered with ergonomics, reinforced against punishing abuse and enhanced with premium utility features. Products are optimized for specific uses, such as the company’s surf pack that features a removable wet/dry compartment and changing mat. Oakley’s unique sculptural design produces never-before-seen aesthetics in accessories that range from wallets and belts to surfboard bags, purses and eyewear cases.

Watches
Oakley entered the wristwatch market years ago with an invention called the O ENGINE™, an innovation that allows an INERTIAL GENERATOR® to convert motion into electricity. Today, the company produces a full array of timekeeping instruments including OAKLEY MINUTE MACHINE™, a Swiss-made chronograph with 13-jewel movement and the ability to measure cumulative time, intermediate time and split time. Known for exquisite dimensional sculptures of lightweight titanium and surgical grade stainless steel, Oakley’s quartz/analog line blends definitive styling with the precision of Swiss movement. Innovations like the company’s GMT wristwatch offer premium features such as the ability to set local time anywhere on earth by adjusting a World City hand.

Brothers, Robert and Matt Davis were blessed to have parents that took them to race motocross in 1978. For the next 8 years a passion for the sport developed that has lasted until present day and has no signs of stopping. By 1986, eldest brother, Robert, had turned his hobby of screen printing into a business called Graphics Lab, making stickers for the top skateboard companies at the time. By the early 90's the two were making stickers for several MX brands and local dealerships. By 1992 the Throttle Jockey brand was born. Straight out of the gate they got a call to make graphics for the historic Peak/Pro Circuit/Honda team with the soon to be King of SX, Jeremy McGrath. Now on their 11th year as a sponsor of Factory Honda, Throttle Jockey, a.k.a T.J. continues to pump out quality and original products like it's infamous "retro" replica kits to its' recent launch of iNSiGNiA; T.J.'s custom line of graphics.

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship features the world’s fastest outdoor motocross racers, racing aboard the best bikes each factory offers, on the roughest, toughest tracks in the world. Motocross racing is survival of the fittest as well as the fastest every weekend; it’s where legends like Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, James Stewart, and Ryan Villopoto were built.

The newest member of the Alli family of action sports, Motocross is the original extreme action sport, and the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship is the pinnacle of pure motocross. The 12-rounds series, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, begins in California on Memorial Day weekend in May and ends in Pennsylvania on Labor Day weekend in September. It includes stops at the premier motocross racing facilities in America, with events in Colorado, Texas, Massachusetts, Washington, New York, Maryland and Michigan. The pro riders meet up on Saturday afternoon, with competition divided into two classes: one for 250cc bikes, and one for 450cc machines. Also, eight of the rounds feature the rapidly-growing Pro Women’s Motocross Championship, and the final round features Pro ATV Motocross.

Each track presents its own unique blend of jumps, hills, corners and whoops, but all the races run under the same format: two thirty-minute-plus-two lap motos (races) per class, with the scores from each race combined to determine the overall winner. The competition also tests fitness, as motocross at this speed is arguably the most physically demanding sport in the world.

The AMA Pro Motocross Championship began in 1972. Back then, American riders were still learning the ropes from their European counterparts who invented the sport. They learned soon, though, and ultra-competitive riders like Bob Hannah, Marty Smith, Jimmy Weinert, Tony DiStefano, and Kent Howerton pushed the sport to new heights.

By the early-1980s, American stars were leading the way, as the likes of Rick Johnson, Broc Glover, Mark Barnett, Jeff Ward, Johnny O’Mara, and David Bailey met to battle at every round, surpassing the European masters in speed and technique.

Those men paved the way for modern legends like Jeff Stanton and Damon Bradshaw, Jeremy McGrath and Jeff Emig, and of course Ricky Carmichael, who became known as “the GOAT,” which stands for “Greatest Of All-Time,” after his amazing run at the top landed him ten consecutive AMA Pro Motocross Championships.

Motocross fans are a unique breed of action sport consumer – edgy, energetic, enthusiastic, and athletic. Motocross is a lifestyle sport, and for 12 weekends each summer, the best athletes on the planet do battle on the toughest tracks in the land. The real winners are the thousands of fans who get a spot at the fence and cheer for their heroes through every second of the action. 2011 will mark the historic 40th season of American Motocross.

The Crusty Demons are a group of daredevil motorcyclists from the United States, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

This all started in 1994 when filmmakers Jon Freeman and Dana Nicholson had been accumulating footage to showcase a behind the scenes expose of the lifestyle of an American pro motocross rider in action, 145ft plus jumps, 45ft high in the air soaring over sand dunes, mountains, houses, buses and anything else secure and steep enough to hold the weight of bike and rider.

The end result was Fleshwound Films and the first video Crusty Demons of Dirt . The launch of this video was to change the face of motocross and create a sport that has become the most popular of all extreme sports today, Freestyle Motocross (FMX) .

Fleshwound Films spent two years gathering footage for the first motocross film and 1994 saw the release of Crusty Demons of Dirt . The excitement and hysteria the film created was phenomenal and its success brought about a lot of poachers. Although others were out there trying to create motocross videos, none managed to achieve quite the same impact that Crusty had. Following the success of the first film, Crusty 2 was premiered 18 months later. Sales exceeded expectations and tripled from the first video as the Crusty phenomenon began spreading worldwide. What was somewhat a stagnant sport had received a positive injection of interest and proved its worthiness of being showcased Internationally. People began buying the clothing worn by their heroes (Fleshgear) and thousands around the world were getting bikes and heading for the racetrack, mountains, sand dunes and the sky.

It was only to grow bigger. With the release of Crusty 3 in 1997 and the videos and sport still booming with popularity, freestyle motocross pioneers Lofty and Brian Jordan went to Fleshwound Films with the idea of staging a freestyle motocross competition. Four months later the first competition was held in Las Vegas. This new side of the sport was looked down upon by the industry and many people said it would go nowhere - the excitement amongst the fans indicated that they strongly disagreed.

Before long FMX was introduced as a new sport in the 99 X games in San Francisco and was given worldwide exposure through ESPN television. FMX was then stamped as the king of Extreme, becoming the number one sport at the X Games.

Competition requires riders to travel a course for 90 seconds performing as many tricks as possible, which are judged by a panel. Usually about 10 jumps are completed in this time bracket and riders compete for prize money.

Fleshwound Films undoubtedly played a crucial part in the evolution of the sport, they are still shooting Crusty Films today and recently released the 10th instalment titled – Crusty X – A Decade of Dirt. They have successfully implemented their vision into the industry, introducing the world to their friends and lifestyles whilst creating gods in the stars of their video series. A highlight for them has been coming up with such a unique idea; planning to make it happen and seeing it grow beyond their vision internationally. Travelling to film in Australia, Japan, Brazil, Africa and Peru to name a few, has meant Fleshwound Films created 'The National Geographic of motocross'.
